Music Stars Join John Oliver To Demand That Politicians Stop Using Their Songs

"Don't use our song, because you use it wrong."

John Oliver brought a host of famous music stars together to demand that politicians stop using their songs in political campaigns.

Usher, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban and Cyndi Lauper were among the singers and musicians to appear in the “Don’t Use Our Song” clip on the “Last Week Tonight” show that aired Sunday.

If artists wanted to lend their music to politicians, then “that’s fine.”

“But it is not OK for politicians to just take their songs,” Oliver said, in clear reference to the Republican National Convention’s unauthorized usage of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” and George Harrison’s “Here Comes The Sun.”

“This happens every single election, and it is time for musicians to come together and take a stand,” said Oliver.
